A Bit of Crochet Sunshine on a Cold & Rainy Saturday!

Good Morning, Flower Loving Friends! It's a rainy Saturday morning here in New England, so I thought I'd post my new tote to brighten things up a bit! It's a super simple project, I found the wicker tote at Goodwill and embellished it with a colorful array of blossoms!  Enlarge the photos to see the detail on mine, but what's fun about this project is that it's easy to make it your own. There are so many fab flowers out there for crochet, it's easy to personalize to your own style. I stitched mine onto the bag, but you could easily glue them, too.

Finished at last!!!!!!

Just before Christmas I stopped working on it and just couldn't seem to get back into it.
But I'm pleased to say I pulled myself together and have now finished it.
Here are some of the colour details.

The colours are abit deeper than in the photos.
And our cat Bo loves it and seems to think I made it just for her.

However, I didn't, it's for our granddaughter Elizabeth.
So I'll be sending it to her tomorrow together with my ripple blanket (above) which I'm giving to my daughter Sarah (Elizabeth's Mum).
I'm so glad it's finished at last!!!!

A Flower Wreath

A flower crochet wreath.  All flowers are from 100 Flowers to Knit and Crochet by Lesley Stanfield.  Enjoy and Happy Easter everyone!

Week 11: Free Flower pattern, 6 petal flower

A similar flower but this one only has 6 petals and can be joined like a hexagon with no filler.

USA Terms, DK, 4mm Hook

Pattern:

 Chain 4, sl st into a circle

Round 1: 12 dc into the circle, sl st to complete round

Round 2: 2dc in each st, sl st to complete round.

Round 3: attach yarn in any stitch, dc in next 4 sts, ch4, dc in next 4 sts, repeat until you have 8 loops.

Round 4 attach yarn in the middle of the 4dc of round below to anchor petal, 7dc into the chain loop, sl between the 4dc of round below, repeat until all 8 petals are complete, sl st to finish

Join as you go in a hexagon pattern.

 chose just a few colours or make every flower different

WEEK 10: Free Hand size Flower Pattern..

USA terms, DK, 4mm Hook

It could be made into a giant flower by using 2 strands of DK or super chunky and a bigger hook

made in DK it is approximately hand size

Chain 4, sl st into a circle

Round 1: 16 dc into circle, sl st to complete round

Round 2: chain 4 as first spoke and top, *dcin next st, 2ch,* repeat from * to * until you have 16 'spokes', sl st to complete round

Round 3: 2 sc in each chain space,

sl st to complete round

Round 4: attach yarn over a spoke, 1dc in the 4sts,

ch 4, making to make a loop or hole,

 1dc in the next 4 sts,

repeat until you have 8 loops

Round 5: attach yarn between the 4 dc

9dc into the loop or hole

sl st between the 4dc, to anchor the petal

repeat until you have 8 petals, sl st to complete flower

these hand size flowers can be joined together in rows, side by side to make a blanket wrap or jacket

UPDATE: Adding a picture of the first 8 petal flower I made, using 2 strands of DK

and it made a very big flower  if I remember correctly I used a 6mm hook too

PATTERN

USA Terms, DK, 5mm hook

Chain 6, sl st into a circle

Round1: 12 sc into circle, sl st to complete round

Round 2: chain 2 as first dc, dc in next st, chain 4 dc in next 2 sts

repeat until you have 6 loop sections

sl st to complete the round

Round 3: 7sc in the first chain loop

sl st in between the 2 dc to anchor the 'petal'

repeat 5 more times,sl st to complete round.

Round 4: miss a st,

sl st into the next st,

chain 3

sl st into next st, making a tiny loop

repeat 4 more times (5 tiny loops)

sl st intospace between the 2 dc of round 2,

miss a st, sl st into the next st and repeat for next 5 petals (6 petals in total)

the small loops are made on the top of each petal with a missed st to allow for the petals to lie flat

they can be joined with join as you go in rows

or as a hexagon pattern,

 in one colour or 3 colours
